Obituary for a Star

Indeed we never knew you lived
until years beyond your passing
when your light winked out

in our sky of history.
Single stillness
in a roar of universal noise.

Kissing our hands,
waving to you
through death itself
to find your pulse
awake when ours was still sleeping.
